Articulation

reading passages on various topics. Find the words
containing the student's target sound and have
them say each word 3-5 times.

choose an article under the reading comprehension
category. Find words in the article containing the
student’s target sound and have them say each
word 3-5 times.

Language

Parents can create a FREE account. Hundreds of
reading passages on various topics. Students can
independently read or a parent can read aloud to
the student. Practice decoding and reading
comprehension (e.g. find the main idea, identify
supporting details, identify the author’s perspective
or purpose, use context clues to determine the
meaning of unfamiliar vocabulary).

Students log in using their iXL account username
and password (provided by the school). Students
can choose language targets to practice (e.g.
idioms, multiple meaning words, antonyms,
synonyms, etc).

Variety of free worksheets for grade levels K-5 for
spelling, reading comprehension (with questions
and activities given at the end of each article),
vocabulary, and grammar with answer keys
provided at the end of each worksheet. For
spelling, grammar, and vocabulary complete the
activities given on the various worksheets. For
reading comprehension, students can read out loud
or parent can read to them. Answer comprehension
questions at the end, write down unfamiliar
vocabulary and define using context clues or
dictionary, talk about main idea, and details.

Fluency

Play Around with Speech Mechanism

Choose a topic to discuss (favorite food, hobby,
sport, movie, etc.), then talk about the topic with
either fast, slow, high, low, smooth, bumpy, loud, or
quiet speech. The parent and child can take turns
choosing a topic and how to speak about the topic
and then have fun speaking in all the different
ways.
